What's new

CFR Return 2025/26 — Updated for the Latest DfE Specification

Maintained schools can now complete their 2025/26 CFR return with confidence. We have updated the CFR wizard in line with the latest technical specifications from the Department for Education, so everything you need for this year's return is ready to go.

To keep your CFR codes up to date, two COVID-19 catch-up grant income codes (I18C and I18D) have been retired as they are no longer applicable for 2025/26. The CFR Return can be accessed via Reports, click CFR, then select CFR Return.

Year End — Improved Creditor and Debtor Balancing

We've made a series of improvements to the Year End processing screen to help you diagnose and resolve issues more quickly.

Any postings made directly against the Creditor Control or Debtor Control ledger codes will now be displayed on the Run Year End screen. Additionally, control and turnover values are now shown for schools that are out of balance, giving you a clearer view of exactly where corrections are needed.

To prevent errors, the Run Year End button is now disabled until all CRC and DRC postings are balanced, and will only become active once everything is in order.

Together, these improvements give you a clearer picture of what needs attention, so you can work through year end with greater confidence.

Edit Central Transaction on Purchase Invoices and Credit Notes

It is now possible to edit the Central Transaction checkbox on purchase invoices and credit notes up until the point they reach Paid status.

Education Purchasing users can now designate Central Transactions after invoices and credit notes have been imported, and imported records will also now correctly follow your Default Central Transaction setting.

How to access

  1. Navigate to System Set-Up, then click Defaults.

  2. Select Miscellaneous.

Existing Education Finance users benefit from greater flexibility when managing invoices and credit notes throughout the approval process.

Increased Attachment Limits

We've removed the 5 file limit and increased the size limits for attachments against transactions, giving you greater flexibility when uploading documents.

It is now possible to add multiple attachments against a transaction. The total size of the attachments must not exceed 10MB. This applies across all transaction types, including Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Invoices, Credit Notes, Expenses, Journals, and Returns.

In addition, it is also possible to attach a single file against line items when adding a Petty Cash, Credit Card or Direct Debit Expense. The file size must not exceed 2MB.

How this version will be made available

These enhancements were released to customers throughout March 2026.
