Written by Cristina Gruita

To refund a Sales Invoice/Customer Refund, firstly you will need to make sure you have receipted the payment as income.

Once the payment is receipted, you will need to post a Direct Debit Expense (refund them), which will credit your bank and show the expenditure.

To post the Direct Debit Expense:

  1. Click Transactions, then click Expenses.

  2. Select Direct Debit Expenses.

  3. Click the blue plus icon to create a new direct debit expense.

  4. Under Contact. select the relevant customer the refund relates to.

  5. Fill in the cost center/ledger code combination the sales invoice relates to.

  6. Click Save and Post.

📌Note: Once you processed the Direct Debit Expense you will need to contact the bank regarding physically refunding the money back to the customer, as the system's Payments (cheques and BACS) function is for Supplier payments only.
